Collection: Work & Industrial Life Vests

Personal flotation devices (PFDs) built for people who work on or near water: construction crews, dock and marina staff, commercial fishing, utilities, law enforcement and search & rescue teams. Choose from industrial mesh vests, Type III/V work vests, inflatable work vests and commercial search & rescue vests from Mustang Survival and Kent.

How to choose an industrial PFD

  • Foam work vests float without any action from the wearer and need little upkeep. A good choice for job sites, docks and rough work.
  • Inflatable work vests are lighter and cooler for all-day wear. Automatic models inflate when they hit the water. Check the cylinder indicator and re-arm after use.
  • Type V work vests are approved for the specific use printed on the label, often commercial work. Always read the label for the approved use and conditions.
  • Hi-vis colors and reflective tape (orange or fluorescent yellow-green) help crews be seen on job sites and in the water.
  • Mesh panels keep workers cooler in hot weather.
  • Sizing: fit by chest size, not clothing size. Many vests come in dual sizes (S/M, L/XL, XXL/3XL, 4XL/5XL) or universal fit. Allow room for work clothing underneath.

Workplace rules

In the U.S., OSHA construction rules (29 CFR 1926.106) require U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets or buoyant work vests for employees working over or near water where there is a danger of drowning. Check each product's details for its USCG approval and type.
